Working with scenarios
Create, resume, rename, and delete planning scenarios from Home.
A scenario is one planning cycle: the uploaded file, hierarchy, analysis, parameters, runs, and results. Home lists every scenario in your organization.
Create and resume
New planning starts a scenario at the Data step. After the file is uploaded, the scenario keeps its place in the six-step flow.
From the list you can:
- Continue an unfinished scenario at its current step;
- Restart upload when the file itself needs to change;
- Fix data when validation failed;
- Track run while Processing is in progress;
- View results when a run has completed.
Search by scenario name and filter by status. Rename a scenario from the list so later runs are easy to find.
Status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Created, not yet ready to run |
| Uploading | The file is still being stored |
| Configuring | Hierarchy or parameters are being edited |
| Validating | Analysis is running |
| Ready | Validation passed; you can generate a forecast |
| Processing | A run is in progress |
| Completed | Results are available |
| Failed | The last run or validation did not finish successfully |
| Cancelled | The run was stopped before completion |
A scenario can hold more than one run version. Viewing results lets you switch between completed runs.
Delete
Deleting a scenario permanently removes its runs, results, and stored files.
- Organization owners and admins can delete.
- Members can create, update, and run scenarios, but they cannot delete them.
- A scenario with an active processing run cannot be deleted until the run finishes or is cancelled.
Permissions
Demand planning is available when you belong to an organization with planning access. If Home shows that planning is unavailable, select an organization where you have access or ask an administrator to update your role.
